Epirrhoe rivata is difficult to distinguish from Epirrhoe alternata (Common Carpet).
The species also resembles Xanthorhoe ferrugata (Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet), Cosmorhoe ocellata (Purple Bar) and Epirrhoe galiata (Galium Carpet).
